San Gerardo de Dota, a tranquil place surrounded by an exuberant landscape on the banks of the Savegre River, one of the cleanest and least polluted rivers in Costa Rica and Latin America.
We belong to an area called Los Santos (The Saints), due to many of its communities bearing names of saints.
Santa María de Dota, canton #17 of the San José province, one of the cantons with the richest Natural Reserve in Costa Rica, 78% of its area, and because of its geographic location at a height of 1550 meters, as well as its fertile land, its activity is focused on coffee farming, credited as one of the best in the world, getting good prices on the product and benefiting their producers, who reach a great international market.
It has a great potential for tourism. Currently, there are projects under development that focus on protecting its ecosystem and basins, e.g. in San Gerardo, a place with a very distinct diversity, where an ecological tourism approach has been put into place, a healthy and special approach fit for those who love Nature. Most projects are developed by the community itself, under the right conditions.
